The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is a 501(C)(3) non-profit association that is owned and managed by its members. The organization is dedicated to the academic and professional success of African-American engineering students and professionals. NSBE offers its members leadership training, professional development, mentoring opportunities, career placement services and more!
- Who are we?
Six members of the Purdue Society of Black Engineers (nicknamed the “Chicago Six”) envisioned an organization dedicated to the recruitment and retention of Black engineering students. In 1975, through efforts of this pioneering team, the National Society of Black Engineers was created. - What are the NSBE objectives?
The National Society of Black Engineers strive to accomplish the following objectives for our organization:
The National Society shall promote the public awareness of engineering and the opportunities it affords in the professional industry and academia; to stimulate and develop student interest in engineering; to strive in promoting participation at all levels of responsibility in the field of engineering by the Black and ethnic minority communities; and to endeavor in the advancement of the black professional engineer within the individual engineering disciplines. - What is NSBE's Mission Statement?
